Child Life and Developmental Services - Pre-Hospitalization Program

This program is designed to help parents and their children cope and overcome their fear about upcoming surgery. Child Life specialists then work with both parents and children to prepare them for the day of surgery. Information is offered in a variety of ways: written, verbal, and through demonstration. Families are seen in a group playroom, giving the children opportunities to play with medical play equipment and to play with other children who are also facing surgery.
