Toast to the Children 2003
This
elegant wine and food sampling with live and silent auctions
was held April 29, 2003, at The Essex House and honored Tom
Brokaw Managing Editor of NBC Nightly News.
Tom
Colicchio, Board member and Executive Chef of Gramercy Tavern
and Craft, gathered these celebrated restaurants to serve
samples from their menus: Aquavit, AZ/Pazo, Blue Smoke, Café
Botanica, Craft, Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern, Icon,
JUdson Grill, Ocean Grill, Patria, Tabla, Town, and Tuscan.
Anthony Road Wine Company, Bedell Cellars/Corey Creek Vineyards,
Click Imports, Clicquot, Inc., Galluccio Estate, Jeroboam
Wines, Michael Skurnik Wines, New Castle Imports, Pellegrini
Vineyards, Schneider Vineyards, Tempranillo, and Vina Mediterranean
poured our most diverse selection of wines ever.
In
his remarks Honorary Chair Tom Brokaw encouraged guests to
advocate on behalf of America’s children. Citing the
low incidence of health insurance coverage, he said, “Children
should have the same right to health care as they have the
right to education.”
Guests bid on marvelous live and silent auction items or witnessed
the fun as the bidding unfolded. More than $110,000 was raised
for Children of Bellevue-funded services at Bellevue Hospital
Center.
