Child Protection and Development Center Opens to Public

On November 15, 2000, Children of Bellevue hosted the public opening of the Frances L. Loeb Child Protection and Development Center at Bellevue Hospital. A $390,000 capital renovation undertaken by Children of Bellevue, the Center provides a dedicated environment focused on the unique needs of abused children. The opening included a morning dedication and evening reception with tours for donors, Board members and invited guests. Tours were also conducted for Bellevue employees, law enforcement officials, and child-centered agencies throughout the week.

Speakers at the November 15th dedication were Sean Collins, President of Children of Bellevue's Board of Directors; Dr. Margaret T. McHugh, Medical Director of the Loeb Child Protection and Development Center; Dr. Benard Dreyer, Associate Chairman of Pediatrics, New York University School of Medicine, Bellevue Hospital Center; Carlos Perez, Executive Director of Bellevue Hospital Center and Senior Vice President, South Manhattan Healthcare Network, Health and Hospitals Corporation; and Dr. Robert Glickman, Dean, New York University School of Medicine.

LaRay Brown, Senior Vice President Corporate Planning, Community Health and Intergovernmental Relations, presented a Mayoral Proclamation from The Honorable Rudolph W. Giuliani. The proclamation declares November 15, 2000, as the Frances L. Loeb Child Protection and Development Center Day in New York City.
