Social
Work - Layette Program
Children of Bellevue provides layettes for
newborns whose families are financially destitute. Each layette
includes two stretchies, two T-shirts, two pajamas, two receiving
blankets, one heavy blanket and one pram suit. Social workers
identify eligible infants through a standard assessment that,
among other things, ascertains the readiness of the home for
the child and the family's ability to provide necessary resources.
Families in need, particularly immigrant families who frequently
are absolutely impoverished, make up an increasing percentage
of those we serve. These loving families simply lack adequate
resources.
Children of Bellevue is grateful to the New
York University Community Fund for its ongoing support of
the layette program.
We are also grateful to Stitches from the Heart for their donation of hand knitted blankets and hats.
