As
a niece of one of Bellevue’s Pediatric Clinic Nurse
Practitioners, I understood the importance of Children of
Bellevue’s mission. Each year at holiday time members
of my family and I contribute funds, which are used to meet
special needs of clinic patients that arise throughout the
year.
After
attending some benefit events, I joined Children of Bellevue’s
Junior Committee in 2001. I serve on special event committees
and volunteer with pediatric patients every few months.
Today,
as a veteran of Children of Belleuve’s volunteer corp,
I reflect upon what distinguishes my involvement at the Hospital.
Volunteering at very large organizations (although they may
be worthwhile causes) in my experience has meant simply writing
a check. At a smaller organization like Children of Bellevue,
the opportunity for repeated contacts with program staff,
as well as patients is available. It enables me and other
donors/volunteers to truly understand the impact of our dollars.
