ROR In Action

This video, narrated by Julianne Moore, gives an overview of the Reach Out and Read Program at Bellevue Hospital Center. The School of Visual Arts in New York City produced this video as a class project for the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Children of Bellevue’s Reach Out and Read Program.

Starry Night Stories™ was a fundraising event to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Children of Bellevue’s Reach Out and Read that took place in New York City on Monday, October 3, 2011. Our Honorary Co-Chairs Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich brought together some of their friends from the entertainment world to share the magic of bringing children’s books to life by simulating what happens in the pediatric clinic at Bellevue Hospital every day.  Actors Billy Crudup,  Ana Gasteyer, Samuel L. Jackson, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly,  LaTanya Richardson and Brooke Shields read selected children’s books as the illustrated pages appeared on a large screen, allowing the audience of “grown-ups”  to follow along. Here are some highlights from the event.

Whoopi Goldberg reads, and hands out books to young patients at New York’s Bellevue Hospital Pediatric Clinic to help launch Scholastic’s ‘One Million Bookprints for One Million Books,’ a campaign to help donate new books to children in need through ‘Reach Out and Read’.
