Volunteer with Children of Bellevue

Children of Bellevue offers three volunteer options:

1. Weekly through Child Life: Available Monday-Friday before 4pm in various hospital areas.  For weekly volunteers we require a commitment of coming in at least once/week, for at least 6 months.

2. Monthly Evenings – Individuals: Meet with the children in the Inpatient Psychiatric Units usually on the second Tuesday of the month from 6:15-8:15pm.
The Child Psychiatric Unit is home to 15 patients between the ages of 6 and 12 while the Adolescent Unit is home to 15 patients between the ages of 13 and 18. These children, many of whom are awaiting long-term placement in residential facilities or foster care, live in the hospital for at least three weeks. They greatly enjoy and benefit from art projects, playing board games, and other fun activities with volunteers.

3. Monthly Daytime – Groups: We welcome up to 10 volunteers at a time to participate in art projects such as T-shirt painting and mask making. These organized groups (Corporation, Fraternity/Sorority, Meetup.com, etc.) can volunteer from 1pm-3pm on Mondays, Tuesdays,  Wednesdays and Sundays, once per month.

Volunteer for Children of Bellevue’s Reach Out & Read Program

In the clinic waiting room, trained community volunteers engage children of all ages in reading activities. The volunteers don’t simply read aloud; they model book-related interactions for parents who sit nearby and watch.

Volunteer for Bellevue Hospital Center

If you are interested in a regular, ongoing volunteer assignment, check out Volunteer Services at Bellevue Hospital Center. Volunteers will find numerous opportunities to match their interests and skills with the diverse needs of Bellevue Hospital. There is great demand for caring men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and careers, from teenagers to senior citizens to assist hospital staff.

Volunteers serve throughout the hospital, working directly with patients in clinics and on hospital floors or behind the scenes in offices and service areas. Assignments may vary when hospital needs change. Areas where volunteers serve include nursing and medical areas, therapeutic activities, and non-patient areas.
