Dance Troupe Entertains Inpatient Children and Adolescents

The Performing Company of Lynn's Dance Connection delighted patients with a holiday show on Saturday, December 14th. Members of the company ranged in age from nine years to 18 years and numbered more than twenty volunteers.

Children of Bellevue's Junior Committee transformed the otherwise bleak Inpatient Psychiatry Unit's gymnasium with holiday decorations before the show. They also provided the patients and dancers with refreshments. While enjoying the snacks, patients were able to mingle with the dancers, sharing their love for music, dance and everyday "kid stuff". Before departing, the troupe presented Children of Bellevue with a $2,500 donation, which they raised with two "Breakfast with Santa" performances.

The next Junior Committee activity is planned for mid-February. For more information, please contact us at (212) 562-4130.

Children use art to express their hopes and aspirations as well as their conflicts and fears. Art helps children communicate and gain a sense of control over often-difficult circumstances.
